Real Wedding ~ Allison and Hunter

It was a beautiful day for Allison and Hunter's Carillon Beach wedding photographed by the lovely ladies of VUE Photography. The event was designed in a palette of all white with ceremony details in magenta with accents of natural tones, chocolate and ivory. Allison's bridesmaids wore short magenta cocktail dresses paired with matching ranunculus bouquets created by Events by Nouveau Flowers. The bride wore a pretty lace gown with soft sweetheart neckline that she paired with a white blossom tucked behind her ear, a glittering pair of teardrop earrings and magenta pumps to match her bridesmaids. Hunter and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos paired with black bowties except for Hunter who matched the soft ivory hue of Allison's gown. The ceremony took place at The Meeting House chapel where guests sat in seats draped in ivory linens. Allison walked down the aisle carrying a full bouquet of all white ranunculus where she met her groom beneath a beautiful arrangement of white and fresh apple green hydrangea blossoms with sprigs of twigs where the two exchanged their vows.

The open-air tented reception was inspired by the seaside and created in a soft palette of white, ivory and muted gray blue with a variety of soft textures and blooms in fresh apple green and bright white. The striking clear tent was draped with billowy shear white fabric panels on the sides leaving the ceiling with open views of the night sky. Crystal chandeliers were hung from the tent roof and created a brilliant display above their all ivory confection created by Confections on the Coast that featured small ivory pin dot piping and blooms as the cake topper. Round guests tables were dressed in a mixture of crisp white and muted gray blue textured linens and set with chocolate brown chivari chairs. Centerpieces were created with gathered white blooms and greenery in a variety of clear glass vessels. An eclectic mix of antique furniture formed a quaint lounge area for guests on the lawn and was accented with warm candlelight. Don't miss any of the couple's detail filled day including the couple's sparkler exit. For more images and details from Allison and Hunter's Florida wedding, visit the VUE Photography blog!

Real Wedding ~ Toni and Matt

Toni and Matt married in a stylish Georgia affair photographed by Altmix Photography and planned by the fabulous Ashley Baber Weddings. The event was designed in a sophisticated palette of black and white with bold lemon yellow accents. Toni wore a stunning Monique Lhuillier gown with pleated sweetheart bodice and soft feminine rose embroidered skirt. She added a pair of pretty hoop earrings and carried a bouquet of yellow calla lilies wrapped in organza ribbon and adorned with lockets pinned to it with old images of her family members. Her bridesmaids wore chic black cocktail dresses paired with statement necklaces of multi strand knotted pearls and chains from Stella & Dot and carried fresh bouquets of white French tulips and greenery. Matt and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with matching yellow calla lily blossom boutonnieres. The couple's ceremony was held at the historic 1920's Peachtree Christian Church built in the Neo-Gothic style where two flower girls led the way for Toni's walk down the aisle with her father carrying yellow spider mum pomanders.

The reception took place at King Plow where the contemporary space was transformed with the bold wedding day palette. Guests were greeted as they entered the space by an amazing display of black manzanita branches adorned with black and white paper flowers and yellow ribbons with notes of well wishes for the newlyweds. Modern lounge spaces were created around the room with white pipe and drape and panels of black and white patterned fabric as a backdrop. Low white couches and chairs were arranged with black accent pillows and a collection of modern black lacquered cubes made into one large coffee table. Fish bowl shaped vases were filled with black river rocks with a yellow calla lily stem curled around the bowl adding a splash of color to the black and white space. Guest tables were draped in white linens with black and white patterned runners running down the center of each side. A mixture of centerpieces decorated each guest table from low white ceramic square vases filled with lemon yellow tulips to tall cylindrical glass vases filled with river rocks at the base and submerged long stemmed yellow calla lilies. Yellow tulip petals and spider mum blossoms were scattered around the center of the tables along with flickering candle votives. A candy table display was arranged in the event palette with an assortment of yellow and white candies as favors and at the end of the night guests showered the happy couple in a grand sparkler exit before Toni and Matt drove off in a classic Rolls-Royce. E Session ~ Jori and Josh

We love Jori and Josh's gorgeous engagement session sent to us by Caroline Ghetes Photography. From the pretty sunkissed images at the park where Jori dressed in an adorable figure-hugging navy blue dress and belt cinched in at the waist to the more playful and relaxed images of her in denim shorts and straw fedora, while Josh sported a tee of his favorite band The Get Up Kids there were so many great images of the two. Blue Moon Events ~ Charleston, SC

Blue Moon Events based in the heart of downtown Charleston, SC have been designing timeless events for a number of years as one of the most sought out event design firms in the South. Their unique signature "edited eclectic" aesthetic combines Southern style with polished modern touches. We have long been admirers of Blue Moon Events and featured their work regularly in Real Wedding features on both the pages of Weddings Unveiled and on Completely Unveiled. Read on to learn more about Blue Moon Events owner Calder Clark and what makes her your perfect wedding day companion for your Southern soiree.

Blue Moon Events is based in Charleston, SC. To contact Blue Moon Events, visit the company website by clicking here or call 843.641.0055.

Weddings Unveiled: Tell us a little bit about Blue Moon Events.

Calder Clark: Blue Moon Events is a boutique event planning and design firm based in Charleston, SC. We travel cross-country producing weddings with our signature “edited eclectic” aesthetic, and are most often tapped to introduce our love of vintage pieces and traditional-with-a-twist vibe into our events. Our focus is on full service consulting, styling, and interiors for a select series of clients with whom we build lifelong relationships.

WU: How did you become an event designer? When and how did you begin Blue Moon Events?

CC:
I got my feet wet at Design Cuisine, a fabulous catering firm in Washington, DC. After just a few weeks putting together high-profile parties for some of Washington’s finest, I was hooked. Following years in DC, I missed the South, and relocated to work in special events at Charleston Place. In 2005, I was married . . . and my husband suggested I ditch the “golden handcuffs” for being my own boss. In early 2006, Blue Moon was born, and I’ve never looked back.

WU: Tell us about how you work with engaged couples, whether as a team or individually.

CC: Our focus is on building a relationship, and securing the trust I need from our couples so that they give me abundant creative license. Once we have built those bridges, the opportunities to design lovely and inspired weddings are endless. We are, essentially, freed up to hone our craft on behalf of the couples who collaborate with us . . . which is simply thrilling. I enjoy both the logistics and the design, and have an incredible team to back me up from both angles of the planning process. Our goal is to draw out of the couple who they are, what makes them tick, where they’ve been, and where they want to go . . . and then we process that and turn that knowledge into wedding day details that speak to the couple and to their guests.

WU: Describe your wedding style.

CC: My wedding style is intrinsically polished but soft, Southern but current, tasteful but clever, and always (always) timeless.

WU: What inspires you?

CC: I think style is ingrained, so the source of it is always interesting. For example, I am most at home in an antique mall or flea market, picking for treasures such as the Depression era pink glass plates and champagne coupes I recently snagged for a seated dinner. I am frequently found with my nose in an Elle Décor or Veranda, snipping pictures of curtains for inspiration on our next series of tent pole covers, valances, and ceilings. I am most inspired by interior designers, wedding and lifestyle photographers, and by our world history of entertaining.

WU: How do you keep your ideas fresh?

CC: For me, it’s really an old-meets-new thing. I keep my ideas fresh by poring over foodie magazines and blogs, rifling through back issues of interiors magazines (like Domino), renting old movies, and scouring the web for art installations and store environments that inspire.

WU: What was your favorite wedding and why?

CC: Oh I couldn’t possibly! So many have fallen into the realm of magical for me that I don’t know how to pick. Emotionally, my favorite(s) are where our couples have let us do the legwork and they’ve put their time and energy into preparing for marriage and a life together . . . because that’s what really matters. Geographically, I have to give props to my home state of Tennessee. We recently designed a wedding at Blackberry Farm, which absolutely took our breath away for its natural beauty and impossible charm.

WU: What makes Blue Moon Events different from other wedding and event designers?

CC: Transparency and approach set us apart. The wedding industry is full of mystique and markups, thus we really pride ourselves on offering emotional, contextual, financial, and conceptual lucidity in the planning process. From an approach perspective, we are down-home girls with city slicker knowledge, which is a killer combination. We get the job done, but we may just add a “yes ma’am” and a hand-written thank-you (in cursive!)

WU: What would be your ideal wedding assignment or dream wedding to design?

CC:
It’s always fun for us to get out of our proverbial shell, and I have a small obsession with San Francisco. I’d love to do a wedding weekend series for a couple in California, where the art world, wine country, landscape, and ocean vistas collide to create an endless backdrop for entertaining.

WU: Tell us three things you can't live without.

CC: My faith, my family, and Diet Coke.

WU: What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?

CC: Don’t try to be all things to all people.

WU: What is the best advice you can give to an engaged couple?

CC: Slooooow down and drink it in. The engagement should be an incredible memory, not a blur- because the wedding night is certainly going to be!

Real {Destination} Wedding ~ Izabella and Alex

Izabella and Alex were married in a gorgeous rustic farm wedding in the New York countryside photographed by Kella MacPhee. The wedding took place at the beautiful Blue Hill at Stone Barns, a working farm with an award winning restaurant that uses all locally grown ingredients. With sheep grazing in the picturesque open pastures, amazing large greenhouses built on the property and buildings made of stone the farm provided a spectacular setting for Izabella and Alex's wedding day. Izabella wore a pretty strapless gown with soft ruffle detailing on the side and accessorized with a floral fascinator to pull back her golden locks and a gorgeous pair of Badgley Mischka shoes with ruffled floral blossoms that mimicked the detailing of her gown. Not to be outdone, Alex wore a tailored slate gray suit with a dark violet and gray bowtie and colorful suspenders to match.

The ceremony took place outside the rustic barn where natural wood chairs adorned with vibrant yellow sunflowers lined the aisleway. Izabella made her way down the aisle dancing and carrying her sunny bouquet of yellow and white blossoms wrapped in raffia. Following the ceremony the couple explored Blue Hill at Stone Barns and took some fantastic pictures inside the greenhouses and ended their excursion with a bit of friendly hay throwing. During that time guests were treated to an amazing spread of hors d'oeuvres artfully served from wood blocks. The reception inside continued the colorful and happy theme of the day. White linens provided a base for the brilliant yellow sunflower and wildflower arrangements, while khaki colored menu cards were set at each place setting and tied with a small piece of green raffia. Table numbers consisted of hand draw farm animals and insects with a pretty eyelet trim. Wooden honey dippers with bumblebees at the end and jars of local honey were given to guests as a sweet favor.
